Exor EMAS Appraisal
Exor provide clients with an EMAS (Environmental Management And Sustainability) reporting service.
Businesses and particularly local authorities have become increasingly concerned about environmental issues over the past few years. Standards are now required to pass a thorough appraisal of their awareness, policies and procedures related to environmental issues and sustainability. Authorities need to ensure that their suppliers and contractors can contribute to ‘sustainable development’ – meeting the needs of the present without compromising the future.
An EMAS appraisal will demonstrate an effective environmental policy which is relevant to their business including improved awareness of and management of compliance with legislation, and costs benefits associated with a reduced need for resources such as energy.
The appraisal will either hold ISO14001/EMAS accreditation, or to be aiming and working towards it within the next two years. Our assessment system takes into account the type of work carried out by the business, as well as the size of the business.
Our current appraisal system is based on the highest local authority standards for EMAS in the UK and include ‘green’ transport measures, use of ozone depleting chemicals, tropical hardwoods, waste reduction and recycling policies, and the protection of the natural environment.
From July 2006, we are required to complete a supplementary questionnaire, designed to test the company’s awareness of the specific impacts their work may have on the environment. This is assessed alongside the environmental policy.
An appraisal is conducted by trained analysts that have extensive experience in this growing area.
